THE FISHTAIL BRAID

I cannot tell you how much I have been loving the fishtail braid! I feel like it can be worn with an elegant look, a dressed down look, an urban look, or messy and earthy kind of look. Last summer, my husband David and I attended the world premiere for his movie, Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation (Buy your copy here) in Vienna, Austria at the world famous opera house there. The red carpet and dress for the evening was ‘black tie.’ I was completely obsessed with the hand-painted Roberto Cavalli dress (pictured below) that I had picked out for the evening and wanted a soft, romantic look to go with it for my hair and makeup. I thought it was the perfect time for the wispy, flirty fishtail. Now almost a year later, just a few nights ago I wore the fishtail braid again (pictured above) on the red carpet at a charity event David and I were hosting in Los Angeles for the fight against cancer–Rebels With A Cause. This time, the attire was cocktail and with the Grecian-inspired pleated Alice and Olivia dress and multi-colored beaded belt I wore, combined with the Alexis Bittar gold accents, I thought again the fishtail braid would be a nice, playful addition to finish off the whole ‘look.’ A bit more structured with volume this time, but still messy and loose, I felt like I didn’t have to worry about or fuss with my hair for the rest of the evening and could just let it hang out there on the side of my shoulder, elongating my neck and decollete. The nice thing about this look that I always love is that I could wear it with jeans and a t-shirt, and still make a bit of a creative statement with the twist and finesse I feel this hair style has.
