ENTERTAINMENT

Getting to work in the entertainment industry is something I feel is a true gift, and a gift I don’t take for granted, as I’m able to pursue one of my biggest passions on a daily basis.  The road to creating is not easy and it certainly is not always glamorous.  There are days when you feel like giving up on your dreams altogether.  But the moments that make the roller coaster ride all worth it are those rewarding moments when you see the work you’ve created connect with another human being.  When you see someone inspired by your work, relating to your work, or touched by your work.  Those are the moments that make the low points and the hard days all worth it.  People always ask me what my favorite part of the music process is….is it being in the studio?  Is it writing/finding songs?  Is it performing out on the road?  I always tell them, it’s all of the above.  I love each part of the process for different reasons.  When you get to write and create a song from scratch, that’s a beautiful thing in and of itself–getting to pour a little bit of who you are into the lyrics and melody of a song.  Being in the studio, that’s when you really get to hear your songs grow and become the ‘babies’ you imagined them to be.  When I listen to music, there are always certain things about a song that pull me in–sometimes it’s the melody, sometimes the lyric, sometimes it’s a certain instrument or ‘melodic instrumental hook’ that you don’t even know is getting you to respond to the song, and sometimes its the nuances of a vocal.  That’s what I love about the studio process because you get to create all those things you envision for your songs, and bring them to life.  And then there’s performing live–this is when you really get to share your creation, your ‘babies’ with the world and see how they connect with a live crowd.  One of the most challenging and rewarding jobs I believe an entertainer or musician has is to connect–connect with your audience.  We all as human beings want to feel like there is someone out there that can relate to whatever it is we’re feeling or going through in our lives whether its something happy and exciting, or sad, painful, and stressful–we want to feel connected.  And thus, that’s one of the biggest reasons I so enjoy getting to create.  So when you’re reading these posts about music, film, and television please no I am no savvy critic–just a fan like everybody else sharing what I love and connect with.  I hope some of these media posts do the same for you as well!
